Abstract

This paper reports two outcomes of research undertaken by the authors. These comprise an extension to Ashby's Law of Requisite Variety and the application of the five extensions to Ashby's Law derived so far by the authors to the complex socio-technical problems associated with developing successful activism strategies and resisting them. These new extensions reposition Ashby's Law of Requisite Variety as a tool of politics and power.
