The parenting experiences of Ghanaian Mothers in Western Australia

The purpose of this research study was to explore the parenting experiences of Ghanaian mothers in Australia. What practices about parenting do Ghanaian mothers value? Furthermore, what beliefs about parenting do Ghanaian mothers hold, what changes in parenting occur when Ghanaian mothers migrate to Perth, Western Australia and what issues do Ghanaian parents face when they migrate to Perth, Australia? Utilising a phenomenological framework (Smith & Osborn, 2008) participants’ parenting contexts were constructed based on their own individual perceptions of this phenomenon.
