Abstract

In seeking improved machining performance, researchers and manufacturers have made important advances through introduction of CNC machines and automatons and the use of computers in adaptive control of such machines. The present study was set up to analyze the phenomena occurring in conventional metal machining operations and their significance in overall assessments of metal cutting performance. Also considered is a possibility of using such data as information in-puts for adaptive control of metal cutting processes, which will permit the achievement of optimum conditions (in real cutting time) with regard to these systems.
