Abstract
Vision restrictions can create'difficulty in coping with the physical environment, increasing the risk of injury (by falls, for example) and often increasing a person's dependence on others, including community-service workers (Taylor 2002). Opportunities for social interaction, education, and employment can be limited and there is a risk of negative effects on emotional wellbeing. Even mild visual impairment has a significant impact on social functioning and healthy ageing.
