Abstract
The positive identification of authorized persons for entry to restricted facilities has traditionally required guards matching ID cards to persons and electronic cards applied to readers. Smith discusses the science of biometric identification. The suitability of particular biometric systems for specific applications depends upon the requirements and functions of the facility that needs a control of access.
