Abstract
When an old man with alzheimer's disease fell in love with a nurse he seemed to confuse with his fiancee of long ago, a sharing of stories enriched both their lives. The author uses contemporary theory, biography, autobiography and anecdote to highlight the use and power of narrative in human relationships, and in particular the relationships of people with dementia and their caregivers.
