Abstract

The aim of this book is to understand the background and migration experience of Portuguese migrants in Sydney, Australia and those who have returned to Portugal. Based on the assumption that psychological acculturation is a major factor influencing the settlement experience of migrants, this book explains migration and return migration decision-making from the perspective of the individual. The book identifies the settlement needs and concerns of Portuguese migrants in the areas of immigration and settlement. It also identifies major factors influencing settlement and return migration. In doing so, it explores an area not previously developed, researched or analysed in Australia.
