Abstract

A quantitative evaluation of the efficacy of the Mining and Resource Contractors Safety Training Association (MARCSTA) course was conducted on a cohort of 1,000 trainees. Pre- and post-training testing showed evidence of significant knowledge gain, thus validating the effectiveness of the MARCSTA course in industry. Furthermore the potential for the course to be delivered in distance mode was demonstrated and levels of satisfaction with the course among trainees were high. The MARCSTA course has wide acceptance among employees and employers in the mining industry in Western Australia and Tasmania.
