Abstract
This paper was written to fill a void in the theoretical construct of Information Operations (IO). In doing so, the authors compare and contrast a number of concepts that have been forwarded by academics as possible methodologies for the study of this relatively new warfare area, and strive to layout a path for future research of information warfare theory. By analysing these systems approaches to the complex and dichotomous nature of IO, the authors believe that they may have found an answer using Soft Systems Methodology (SSM).
