Abstract
This chapter highlights the need for LIS professionals to adapt and grow in the rapidly changing world of work. The chapter provides an overview of how emerging technologies and Web 2.0 have shaped libraries and library careers. It describes how Web 2.0 is impacting on job searching. and highlights the part played by Web 2.0 in library career. development. The chapter identifies three cornerstones of career activities where Web 2.0 can be applied: marketing, networking and professional development. Finally, the chapter describes how the book is structured to provide a plan for implementing some of the Web 2.0 technologies for one's career.
