Abstract

Recreational book reading offers significant benefit for literacy outcomes. To increase the frequency of recreational book reading in adolescents, an understanding of the reasons leading to infrequency of engagement in the practice is required. This paper explores both quantitative and qualitative data collected in a survey response to a West Australian study on adolescent book reading. Findings from this study further understandings of the reasons that may limit adolescents' recreational book reading.
