Description

ARTIST | Amanda Allerding
DATES | 17 March to 27 March 2025
ARTIST STATEMENT | Allerding’s PhD research traverses’ culture–nature entanglements reimagined through the Shizilin Lion Forest Garden in Suzhou, a residential garden in Perth, and the Porongurup Range, Noongar boodjar of the Minang Peoples in the Great Southern of Western Australia. Working across both garden and landscape sites, multi–modal approaches alongside printmaking are critically enacted as slow practices within her artistic enquiry.

This exploratory work in Spectrum brings together several different groupings of works in progress at a mid-point of my candidature to explore the scale of the works and their spatial relationships. The potentialities of materials which include works on paper, large pieces of fabrics, eucalyptus dye and reflective surfaces, are explored to provide direction for the works in progress that will be developed in further studio processes towards an exhibition of final works.
