Abstract

The use of Internet and application of Information & Communication Technology (ICT) has grown tremendously in recent years. Computer-based learning, online education and eLearning activities are the latest trends in education generating much interest in the community. This paper looks at some recent developments in the use of Internet and application of ICT in education with emphasis on Singapore. The application of ICT in education is not just about putting computers into schools and homes. It is also about changes and developments in instructional design, pedagogy, learning theories, mindset, and approaches to teaching and learning. The waves of change introduced through the use of Internet and application of ICT inevitably give rise to questions over the implications for quality & performance management. This paper aims to raise awareness of these implications. [In H.S. Dhindsa, et al. (Eds) (2006). Shaping the future of science, mathematics and technical education (pp. 278-287).
