Abstract
In the late eighties and nineties, quality management enjoyed enormous popularity as a focus for organisational change and strategy. This interest has waned somewhat since the mid nineties, yet quality still has a key role to play in enterprise competitiveness. This paper looks at where quality has come from, where it currently is and suggests some future scenarios based on trends in the business world.
