Abstract
In this paper we use scallop survey data and lognormal ordinary kriging (Chiles and Delfiner 1999) to obtain a spatial mapping of estimated scallop density in the Red Cliff and NW Peron regions of the Shark Bay managed scallop fishery in Western Australia. The results can then be used, together with the annual preseason scallop survey, to inform the management decision as to the opening time of the subsequent scallop fishing season.
