Abstract

In this paper, this research presents an Opto-VLSI system implementation for 4G Mobile Communication Service(MCS): Image Processor with Optical Space Switch that is capable of switching a large number of input and output fibers in real time. A reconfigurable network may offer band-width on demand by configuring itself to optimize for the traffic bottlenecks. Image Processor performs 30 frames/s of QCIF at maximum clock rate of 27MHz for 384kbps, which meets the requirements for MPEG-4 SP@L2 for videoconferencing, surveillance, news, or entertainment and Optical switch realizes fast real time multimedia mobile services at high bandwidth up to 60GHz.
