Abstract
A hotel, similar to any other business, will aim to maximize its revenue. One way of achieving this objective is to rent out the more expensive rooms before the cheaper ones. Many factors including the market condition affect the decision making of hotel personnel regarding the selling of appropriate types of rooms to maximize the income. A knowledge-based system can be used to aid hotel staff in the above problem. This will result in considerable time saving in the decision making process. The proposed system is also quite flexible allowing adjustments and changes to be made to various parameters to accommodate the fluctuations in market conditions.
