Abstract
The role of parents in supporting and assisting their children with school work is acknowledged. However, parents often struggle to help their childreu with mathematics. Issues arise as to the mathematics content and the current teaching methods employed by teachers. This paper describes a six-hour course designed to improve parents' confidence so they can provide worthwhile assistance to their children. All parents were surveyed at the start and finish of the course. A small group of parents were -interviewed. This paper reports on these data.
