Abstract

It is a trend to develop software systems using components, especially using Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components. Such a trend calls for the development of component-based soft ware testing techniques, since the traditional testing techniques can not be fully adapted to test component-based software systems. The UML has emerged as an industrial standard for modeling soft ware systems, and can be used across the whole development lifecycle of a software system. An overview of current works on UML-based software testing for component-based software development is presented. It is shown that the UML-based software testing technique can be widely used in both the academic research and the industrial applications.
