Emotion focused therapy – case conceptualization and treatment: Adults
Abstract
This article provides a comprehensive overview of emotion focused therapy (EFT). First, the theoretical foundations are presented highlighting the central tenets of the approach, including the therapeutic relationship, clients' experiencing, emotional processing and self-organization. Subsequently, EFT's trans-diagnostic model of case-conceptualization is presented and its application to a number of different client populations including depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, personality disorders couples and families is described. © 2022 Elsevier Ltd.
