Abstract

The prevailing blame game between individuals and the sector has grown wearisome, and it’s time for a change. As scholars, researchers, teachers, administrators, policymakers, and leaders, we must transcend the rhetoric of a broken system and begin to explore and put into action what is possible when we position self-care and wellbeing as a part of who we are and what we do in higher education. Can we do things differently? How can we explore how we, individually and collectively, can be the change we yearn for? This edited volume is a response to thinking about doing things differently and is a proactive act of empowerment, agency, and the relentless efforts, personal struggles, peer pressures, tears, appreciation, compassion, and myriad of emotions entwined with reshaping our approach to wellbeing. It’s a celebration of voices that have dared to be different, and it serves as a beacon of hope for our sector. Through interruption, flipping perspectives, disruption, and amplification, we aim to elevate the stories of those who are reshaping the narrative.
