Abstract

Growth-oriented leadership (GOL) is a multidimensional construct encompassing development, trust, and collaboration. It is increasingly suited to the changing and challenging demands of contemporary organisational environments. This chapter explores how GOL reflects an approach to developing leaders and environments conducive to employee growth. The chapter also presents a validated scale for measuring GOL. This paves the way for both empirical assessment of emerging leaders and further scholarly investigation. GOL, as a leadership and leadership development framework, not only offers insights into specific growth-facilitating behaviours but also examines the mechanisms through which these behaviours develop workplaces. The findings of this research highlight the importance of developing growth at all organisational levels, preparing employees, organisations, and societies to effectively meet future challenges. This comprehensive approach to leadership development aims to equip all organisational members with the tools needed for adaptability and resilience in ever-evolving work environments.
