Abstract

There is a worldwide debate on quality physical education (QPE) and there is a lack of consensus about what the term means. However, QPE is context-specific and means different things in different places. Therefore, this chapter focusses on QPE in Australia. This is analysed by using the 8-dimensional development aspects in QPE and drawing content examples from the Australian Curriculum in Health and Physical Education. Contextual information about Australia as a country is also presented, together with some background information about the school system and intertwined information about some organisations linked to the provision of Health and Physical Education in Australia.
