Abstract
The mining industry is on the brink of a technological transformation driven by artificial intelligence (AI). In mineral exploration, AI’s predictive modeling will enhance accuracy in locating deposits, reducing both financial risks and environmental impacts. Operational efficiencies will soar with the advent of autonomous machinery, such as self-driving trucks and robotic drilling, prioritizing safety by limiting human exposure to hazardous areas. Intelligent systems will predict equipment malfunctions, optimize maintenance, and ensure seamless production. On the sustainability front, AI algorithms will manage water and energy usage, waste production, and aid in land restoration. However, the integration of AI also presents challenges, including potential job displacement and ethical concerns. As the mining sector embraces AI, it promises increased efficiency, safety, and eco-responsibility, though a collaborative approach to address emerging issues will be imperative.
