Research Statement
Research Background
This two-phase, collaboratively curated exhibition, and its associated programming, facilitated the intercultural dialogue between 12 culturally-diverse artists—6 from Singapore and 6 from WA—interrogating the legacy of British colonialism in the Asia-Pacific region.
Research Contribution
These two exhibitions (in Singapore and WA) asked, how do we address the legacy of British colonialism in a contemporary Asia-Pacific from the perspectives of two, very different, but multiculturalist, nations.
Research Significance
The significance of this research is it facilitated intercultural, multimodal dialogue between 12, culturally-diverse artists from two Asia-Pacific nations whom each have a distinctly different experience of British Colonialism, and with the broader publics of those two nations.
