Abstract

Strength is an important component of long-term athletic development and performance. In many sports, concurrent training modalities limit the ability to study strength development in isolation, while many research interventions may not directly reflect real-world scenarios. Powerlifting (PL) is a rare exception due to the sole focus on: i. the development of maximal strength during training, and ii. maximal strength expression during competition. Thus, this study investigated the long-term strength development of PL athletes.
