Looking at the bigger PICture: Understanding and counteracting the decline of persistent inward currents in older adults
Abstract
The world population is ageing. According to the United Nation's 2019 World Population Prospects, by 2050, one in six people will be over age 65, a striking increase from the one in 11 in 2019. More than ever, we need to elucidate age-related adaptations of the neuromuscular system to implement interventions which can maintain or improve neuromuscular function in older adults.
