Abstract
There is an urgent need to evaluate new surgical technologies before or during their introduction. Historically, this has often not occurred, and many surgical developments have not been well evaluated, including robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RALP). In this paper, we report the commencement of a successful randomised clinical trial of open versus robot-assisted radical prostatectomy.
