Is work-related stress affecting nurses and midwives?
Abstract
Stress within the nursing and midwifery professions has been documented worldwide, with the perceived stressors nurses and midwives report varying from country to country (Schluter et al. 2011). Two PhD studies are being conducted through Edith Cowan University in Western Australia, which are concerned with nurses’ self-reported perceived stress and cortisol levels found in hair; and midwives’ workplace stress and career decisions.
