Abstract

This paper reports on the initial findings of the first of four phases of an ongoing study, which seeks to explore how interactive media can be beneficial to the personal development of deaf or hard of hearing children aged six to nine, especially when it provides a collaborative experience. The study examines the conditions that affect the lives of deaf or hard of hearing children, so that future interaction design practice can make allowances to cater to their needs and requirements, and encourage the acquisition of social and emotional skills. © 2016 ACM.
