Design of a custom FSAE engine
Abstract
In 2014 the Edith Cowan University Formula SAE team competed with a custom designed engine in both Formula Student UK, and Formula SAE-A. This project was conducted over a period of 5 years from initial investigation to the first competition. The engine, designated the ER600C1, was based around the internal components and cylinder head from the 2006 Honda CBR600RR motorcycle engine. This paper provides a summary of the main features of the ER600C1 engine and some of the difficulties that were overcome during the commissioning phase of the project.
