Report for WA Music: Preliminary economic impact of the music industry in WA

Abstract

The economic impact analysis was undertaken using two main sources. The first was a wide variety of existing available reports on the music industry from ticket sales, attendances and Australian Bureau of Statistics data. It should be noted that most available reports are weighted towards Eastern States venues or are focussed on larger venues. The second major source was the REMPLAN data and economic modelling package, which contains detailed data on outputs per industry as well as detailed census data. Again, there are much unreported data that REMPLAN does not capture, such as where music is not the main job of the industry participants.
