Abstract

Through 2D prints and 3D sculptures Wallace has employed a number of technical processes to develop her ongoing investigation of the intersection of public and private spaces. The small sculptures from the Balance and Fleeting Series, covered in heat transferred photographic images form both a flat surface and a 3D object. This is further emphasised through the use of handwritten text referring to the images’ moments in time and covering the shelf or platform on which the blocks rest. Coloured pencil and chalk transfer applied over solvent transfer to the paper surface are employed in a manner that is deliberately labour intensive and repetitive to produce the prints, including Oscillate 3 and 11.
