Abstract

Aim: The aim of this project is for midwifery students to reflect on their practice and the importance of their role in a woman's childbearing journey through drawing, painting or photography. Everyone has a story to tell, but not everybody is a storyteller, public speaker or author. Reflections can be told in other beautiful and unique ways such as this handcrafted quilt. Every quilt tells a story, this quilt shares the experiences of the midwifery students at Edith Cowan University.

Media employed: Exhibition - art work; a patchwork quilt, made of individual hand decorated squares.

Space required: The quilt will be hung from a clothing rack supplied by the contributors. The space required will be approximately 2m x 2m.

Relevance of artwork to the conference theme: The artwork fits in the ‘Valuing every midwife everywhere’ theme and the sub-theme ‘The many faces of midwifery’.
