Abstract
The December mid‐year economic review suggested Western Australia was beginning to return to a stronger position. A Galaxy Poll showed support for Labor holding firm, although the absence of a government majority in the Legislative Council meant that no measure could be rubber‐stamped (Perth Now, 12 August 2018). One surprise change to the federal landscape was the Liberal Party decision in August to replace Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull with another New South Welshman, Scott Morrison.
