Abstract

Young children participate in symbolic and/or pretend play and this involves pretending or the use of symbols that stand in for that which is real. The interest and fascination that young children hold for puppets is connected to one form of play—projected play. In projected play, children play with objects and toys, giving them voices and personalities and using them to enter into imaginary worlds (Slade, 1954)...
