Crews, J. (2014). The values held by senior executives of Sri Lanka: Perspectives, challenges and insights. Paper presented at the 2nd International Conference on Managing the Asian Century: Bali, Indonesia, 26-28 November 2014.

Abstract

This paper examines values held by 17 senior business executives in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The executives were interviewed face-to-face and asked to describe their personal values and those espoused by their organisations. Participants then recalled a professional incident in which their own values were challenged. The findings suggest Sri Lankan senior executives are clear about the values which define their personal and professional lives. In terms of ethical dilemmas facing these executives, it is the cultural, economic, social and political environment which defines the nature and context of the challenges confronting them in their professional environment.
