Editorial [Australasian Journal of Early Childhood]

Abstract

I am winging my way back from Sydney on the east coast of Australia to my home in Perth, Western Australia. If you know our continent then you know this is a long way – if you don’t then it is a four and half hour flight, so lots of time to think. I have just attended the AJEC Research Symposium hosted by Macquarie University and my head and heart are full of all that I have heard, questioned and discussed. Now I am re-reading the articles for this edition of AJEC and as I am doing this, the word ACTIVE is resonating loudly. The early childhood research arena is healthy, abundant and ACTIVE. This was shown at the AJEC research symposium where all types of researchers: seasoned, starting out and lots in between from around Australia and the world came together to talk early childhood research. This typology included researchers from different areas and sectors: academics, early childhood practitioners, policy makers and organisational representatives, all with a thirst for research driven knowledge. It was a joy!
