Seeing the outside in: Shopping centres and spectacle

Abstract

The photographic collection taken in shopping centres across the world, from Buenos Aries to Budapest, considers the styles and sights that are designed to seduce consumers. The photographs depict appealing imagery that provides both solace and spectatorial appeal for the visitor. The photographic work contains a surrealist focus on space, doubling, reflections and dream-like scenes. It conveys the intimacy of my gaze.

In the doubling of images I am drawing attention to the recurring elements of late capitalism on a global scale.
