Abstract
In SITU is an annual season of original site-specific works from WA independent dance artists and composers and sound designers.
Initiated by performance trio Unkempt Dance in 2014, In SITU has now become a unique opportunity for artists and producers to explore an exciting new model of presenting independent choreography in enticing and unexpected locations throughout Perth. All proceeds from In SITU go to the artists involved.
In SITU began as a pop-up performance in Joe’s Barber in King Street in 2014, before travelling to Fremantle Arts Centre in 2015 and taking over the Courtyard of the State Theatre Centre of WA in 2016, courtesy of producing duo Emma Fishwick and Kynan Hughes. In 2017 In SITU heads to St George’s Cathedral for three nights of sound and dance collaborations.
In SITU 2017 features the works of Dominik Mall, Stefan Karlsson, Richard Cilli and Natalie Allen, Sarah Chaffey and Russell Thorpe.
This year also includes composers and sound designers Tom O’Halloran, Dane Yates, Tao Issaro and Jack Burton, who will be collaborating with the four choreographers.
In SITU has been funded by the Western Australian Government through the Department of Culture and the Arts. In SITU has also been made possible by the support of STRUT Dance Organisation, Tura New Music, St George’s Dance and Theatre and City of Perth Winter Arts Festival.
