Abstract
This practice-led research examines the nexus between lens-based art, technology and perception, contributing to the established field of multi-image still photography. The culminating examinable public exhibition, Disruptive Immersion, explored the embodied image using multiple exposures as a central practice method. Using the phenomenological lens of Maurice Merleau-Ponty (2012) as a theoretical perspective, this project examines a visceral approach to the sensations of walking, movement, seeing and inhabiting the world through photographic practice. Artist intentionality, an important aspect of photography’s ontology, is examined to appreciate the aesthetics, style and methods used to evoke an embodied practice through lens-based practice.
