Plastic Materials and Local Conditions: Diagram of a practice [Keynote]
Abstract
Like so much of my work, this talk began with a title that I'd already used for a series of recordings, Plastic Materials, a recording released by an Australian label in 2009, and the title was a bonus not a determinate. Having made the leap from the first term 'plastic materials' to qualifying the second term, 'local conditions', and the subtitle, 'diagram of a practice', I thought I would try to characterise or differentiate between what I thought were materials and what I thought were the conditions under which my work took shape as a way of tackling the theme Immanence.
