John Exton: His Compositional Legacy Revisited
Abstract
This paper will present an overview of the Perth-based English expatriate Dr. John Albert Exton (1933-2009), who was very much a central figure in the new music scene of Perth from 1966 through to the late 1970s. While remaining closely tied to The University of Western Australia (UWA), Exton was active in local and national forums and composer symposiums, and was a passionate and forthright author of several insightful articles in addition to his compositional output of over fifty works.
