Abstract
The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) revolutionizes safety practices in mining. AI-driven advancements like real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, computer vision, and autonomous vehicles enhance safety protocols and mitigate risks. These innovations allow swift responses to threats, prediction of potential issues, detection of breaches, and reduced human exposure in hazardous environments. Highlighting AI’s pivotal role, this chapter stresses its contributions to strengthening safety standards in mining. It emphasizes the connection between safety, sustainability, technological innovation, and operational efficiency. Further exploration in subsequent chapters details AI’s applications across diverse safety domains, showcasing its transformative potential in developing a safer, more efficient, and sustainable mining industry.
